City Culture Institute is a municipal cultural institution that works in Gdańsk to promote culture as an element of city life. We are above all interested in cultural projects which activate new target groups, penetrate new urban areas and open up to different audiences. Social interest, the city space, culture, the image and quality of city life – these are always crucial for us. We work in different areas of Gdańsk to activate, educate and engage people around us by inspiring action and sharing knowledge. Interdisciplinary work is our favourite – we combine the media, art, cultural projects, promotion and networking projects and debates. Through “Culture Observatory”, we aim to affect urban development and support cultural activities. We publish, inform, promote and spread the word about what is on – both among the locals and tourists. www.ikm.gda.pl
Gdańska Galeria Miejska/Gdańsk City Gallery opened in March 2009. It consists of three branches located in the heart of Gdańsk : Gdańska Galeria Miejska 1( ggm1)/ Gdańsk City Gallery 1 on Piwna Street, Gdańska Galeria Güntera Grassa (4g)/Günter Grass Gallery in Gdańsk ( opened in October 2009) on the corner of Szeroka and Grobla I Street and Gdańska Galeria Miejska 2 (ggm2)/ Gdańsk City Gallery 2 ( to be opened in Fall 2010) on Powroźnicza Street. Our artistic programme contains various fine arts events, such as a series of exhibitions tilted “Dialogues” in which we put together works of the local artists with the works of foreign artists. This way international art streams are introduced in Poland and Polish artists become renowned outside Poland. Our other important event is the “Grass-mania” Festival celebrating Gunter Grass’s work. We want Gdańska Galeria Miejska/Gdańsk City Gallery to become a place of creativity, inspiration and good energy. www.ggm.gda.pl
