How to sow a linden tree in November (naturally) – instructions

1. Preparing the seeds
Place the linden seeds in water for 24 hours.

• keep the ones that sink to the bottom
• discard the ones that float

2. Where to sow
You can sow:

• directly in the garden
• in a pot or box, which you’ll leave outdoors

3. Soil
Use a light, well-draining mix: garden soil + sand (in roughly a 3:1 ratio).

4. Sowing

• Sow the seeds with some space between them.
• Cover with about 1 cm of soil.
• Water gently so that the soil is moist but not muddy.

5. Winter

Do not bring the sown seeds indoors.
The pot or garden bed should remain outside all winter – frost, rain and snow will naturally prepare the seeds for sprouting.

6. Spring
The seeds will begin to sprout between March and May.
Be patient – linden trees sprout slowly.

7. Seedlings
When the seedlings have two or three pairs of leaves, place them in separate pots or a seedling nursery.
