Curators
MAJA MURAWSKA is an art historian, curator, producer and researcher. She graduated in art history from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and completed postgraduate studies in cultural management at the Gdańsk University of Technology. She is the author of academic and catalogue texts on contemporary art, and has curated or co-curated numerous exhibitions and artistic projects. In her practice, she focuses on the social role of art, examining its potential to build spaces of freedom, openness and acceptance. She is interested in the relationship between art and activism, processes of emancipation, and actions in support of human and minority rights. Murawska believes in art as a tool for change. She currently works at the National Museum in Gdańsk, where she is part of NOMUS – the New Art Museum.
KAROLINA POŁOM is a curator, producer and writer. She graduated in social psychology and art history from the University of Warsaw. She is co-founder and president of the ByWA Foundation, which supports the development of culture and art, as well as artists, particularly those at the beginning of their careers. Połom organises charity auctions, curates exhibitions, engages in social activism and is a committed observer of art. Her main area of interest is contemporary art, though she is also fascinated by the intersections of art, science and the humanities. She is particularly interested in how cultural origins shape artistic practice. Połom believes in the value of safe creative spaces and in supporting them. She is currently associated with the Centre for Art – Galeria EL in Elbląg.
