As a result of the proceedings of the jury consisting of:
Aleksandra Szymańska - the Executive Director of Gdańsk 2016
Iwona Bigos - the Director of the Gdańsk City Gallery
Joanna Weltrowska - a representative of the Mayor of Gdańsk
Hanna Wróblewska – the Director of Zachęta National Gallery of Art
Robert Kuśmirowski – an artist

Mr Steven Matijcio was chosen as the cuator of the fourth edition of NARRACJE – Installations and Interventions in Public Space Festival due to take place from 15th to 18th November 2012 in Gdansk.

Mr Steven Matijcio is a curator from Canada currently based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the United States and working at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art.

The entry of Mr Steven Matijcio was chosen out of seventeen applications that observed the deadline and met the requirments specified in the rules and regulations of the open call.
The Jury were convinced by the curator’s original concept, his interesting approach to the formula of the NARRACJE Festival, his innovative perception of events happening in public domain and the list of artists he proposed.

The organizers are currently discussing the possibilities of cooperation with the newly appointed curator. If the outcome is positive, Mr Steven Matijcio will visit Gdańsk already in March in order to start intense planning and preparation for the realization of his curatorial proposal.

Here is what the curator said after the announcement of the results:
"I am honored and inspired to be chosen as the curator of the 4th edition of the esteemed NarracjeFestival in Gdansk. This platform provides the opportunity to mine my familial history in Poland, and to expandit into a larger lens onto the complex, and endlessly provocative history of Poland. I am greatly looking forwardto working with all of the organizers and the city of Gdansk, to collectively elevate Narracje into new levels ofartistic excellence and international recognition."
Steven Matijcio

The jury expressed their enthusiasm concerning the past three editions of the Festival which created a formula of an artistic event that has become a part of the city event calendar and has attracted wide audience. The event owes its success to a great extent to the former curator, Ms Bettina Pelz – her competence, engagement and creativity. The organizers would like to thank Ms Bettina Pelz for that.
