Curators

 

KATARZYNA SŁOBODA (she/her) is a curator, author of texts, editor and researcher of dance and choreography with a PhD in the humanities. Between 2009 and 2022, she was associated with the Museum Sztuki in Łódź, where she curated many exhibitions and projects, including Prototypes 6: Alicja Bielawska. At the Intersection of Lines (2022), Prototypes 4: Agata Siniarska, (Land)Slip (2020), You Come, We Will Show You What We Do. On Dance Improvisation (with Sonia Nieśpiałowska-Owczarek, 2013), Urban Ecologies (with Aleksandra Jach, 2011-2013) and Frames of Reference. Choreography in the Museum (with Mateusz Szymanówka, 2016). She is an editor and author of publications and texts on contemporary dance, choreography and contemporary art. Słoboda won the Grażyna Kulczyk research scholarship in contemporary choreography and the Young Poland 2018 scholarship. She is a member of the board of the Dance Art Forum Association, member of the Common Space initiative and the International Association of Art Critics AICA. She lectures at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.

JAKUB GAWKOWSKI (he/his) is an exhibition curator, author of texts and PhD student at the Faculty of History of the Central European University in Vienna. His research interests span memory and non-memory, knowledge and ignorance. Between 2020 and 2023, he worked as a curator at the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, where he produced exhibitions such as Erna Rosenstein, Aubrey Williams. The Earth Will Open Its Mouth, The Atlas of Modernity. Exercises (as part of a curatorial team) and The Earth Is Flat Again. He is a member of the programme board of TRAFO Centre for Contemporary Art in Szczecin and the Polish section of the International Association of Art Critics AICA. Gawkowski held a scholarship from DAAD TheMuseumsLab. His essays and interviews were published, among others, in Krytyka Polityczna, Szum, the e-flux website and exhibition catalogues.
